Joanna Yarrow specialises in sustainable lifestyles and communications – making sustainability interesting, relevant and accessible to broad audiences. A founding director of leading sustainability company Beyond Green (www.beyondgreen.co.uk), she runs a range of strategic consultancy and communications projects, and is increasingly in demand for media coverage of sustainable lifestyles. She is a green living expert on programmes including ITV1’s Tonight With Trevor MacDonald, This Morning, GMTV and is presenting a new BBC3 series on green living, this summer.
Joanna is the author of 1001 Ways You Can Save the Planet, published by Duncan Baird in February 2007. From cleaning and cooking to clothes and holidays, it contains an eclectic list of 1001 suggestions of actions that individuals can take to help protect and enhance the environment and develop a more just and equitable society.
After reading Human Sciences at Oxford University, Joanna then worked for Friends of the Earth Europe on international environmental campaigns and then completed a Master’s degree in Leadership for Sustainable Development with Forum for the Future. As a freelance sustainability consultant specialising in communications, Joanna worked for a range of private and public sector clients including BT, Tesco, the Post Office and the Earth Centre, running a range of strategic and applied sustainability projects, before founding Beyond Green in 2002.
